Reference no. 1134464
Description: Well approximately 5 metres to north-west of No. 190 (Porter Lodge)
Address: Well To Rear Of 190 Rochdale Road Triangle Sowerby Bridge West Yorkshire
Grade: II
Group detail: Rochdale Road (west side, off), Triangle
Full description:
Well. Dated 1749 but probably C19. Coursed squared stone and ashlar. Punch-dressed trough set in, and fed by spout projecting from arched niche formed from one piece of stone which has voussoirs incised, dated key-stone, pulvinated frieze and cyma-moulded cornice. The lettering is the same as that on the Orangery (qv) at Field House, but in both cases the structures appear to belong to the C19 instead. The lodges to the east of the well are dated '1749 rebuilt 1874' and it is likely that the well also has been rebuilt.
