Full description:
House, now 2 dwellings. Dated "SL 1632 IL", altered and subdivided C19. Rubble brought to course, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays. Quoins on left and formerly on right (truncated by addition of No. 44). A doorway to right of each bay; that to right bay (No. 42) having chamfered, quoined surround and basket-arched lintel with dated panels; that to left bay (No. 40) with plain stone surround. A double-chamfered mullion window to left of each door, of 4 (now 2) lights to bay 1, of 6 (now 3) lights to bay 2. Continuous dripmould with decorative circular stops. Two 2-light flat faced mullion windows above. Plain gutter brackets. End stacks. Rear: in centre a plain-stone surround doorway to right of a 4- (now 2-) light double-chamfered mullion window. On right, 2 single-light windows, one formerly a 2-light double-chamfered mullion window. 1st floor: 2 double-chamfered mullion windows, now of 2 lights. Interior: chamfered spine beams, those in right bay (No. 42) spliced, indicating former bressummer. Also in this bay, at rear, a beam with continuous mortice in soffit indicating former timber partition. Flat-arched stone fireplace in left bay (No. 40). Queen-post roof trusses with angle struts.
