Lock. 1798 by W. Jessop and W. Crossley engineers. Large dressed stone retaining walls with rebates for gates. Fitted with the facility for a double set of bottom gates, (see Lock 10 q.v.). Massive stone copings. Steps down to lower water level at northern end.
