Full description:
Farmhouse, now house, part a separate dwelling, and pair of attached cottages. House dated "MHB, 1687", divided into 4 cottages early C19, C19 alterations reconverted c1985; pair of cottages late C18-early C19. Coursed squared stone, stone slate roofs. House: 2 storeys, 4 bays with partial rear outshut and wing to rear centre, right bay a separate cottage, left bay raised and separated C19 (now part of house). Cottages: 2 storeys, 2 1st-floor windows each. House, from left: bay 1: 4- (now 3-) light double chamfered mullion window with hoodmould to left of later doorway; 1st floor blind. Bay 2: doorway with plain stone surround to left of 4- (now 2-) light double chamfered mullion window; 3-light flat faced mullion window above. Bay 3: inserted window to left of moulded quoined shallow-basket arched doorway with dated lintel; 3-light flat faced mullion window above. Bay 4: 4-panel door in plain stone surround to right of inserted window with window in similar surround above. 3 stacks to ridge (one at right end). Cottages: quoins to right; 2 doorways with plain stone surrounds, each to right of C20 window with 2 windows above; stack to left end of each. Rear: house: outshut on right has a 4-light and 1-light single chamfered mullion window; wing has C19 windows. Cottage in left bay and 2 to left each have a 6-light flat faced mullion window on each floor. Interior of house: a quoined stop chamfered doorway from housebody to left room and from left room to outshut. House being restored at time of resurvey. A datestone above the well in the yard is inscribed 'GB 1637', the initials being those of Gabriel Bentley, whom Kendall notes built the house (Kendall, p.163).
