Milepost. Early C19. Stone with shaped top inscribed in capital letters 'TO/TODMORDEN 8 TO HALIFAX 3 3/4' and with traces of pointing hands. The Halifax to Todmorden and Burnley Turnpike Road Trust was created in 1760 (Hanson p 277). T W Hanson, (The Story of Old Halifax) (1985).
