Full description:
Canal warehouse with stable, now commercial premises. Late C18. Brick in stretcher bond, coursed squared stone and rubble brought to course, rendered on all but north sides; stone slate roof. 4 storeys to south side, 3 to north (canal) side; 2 internal bays; stable 1 storey with loft, 1 bay. Gabled south front: openings have plain stone surrounds, the windows with flat faced mullions. Ground-floor: wide cart door to right; 2-light window on left. 1st and 2nd floors: loading door flanked by 2-light windows. 3rd floor: loading door flanked by smaller single-light windows. Later hoist in apex. Stable set back on left has pent roof. Rear: as front, but with mullions removed. Right return: three 2nd-floor windows. Interior: stone flag floor to rear at canal level, otherwise thin floor boards. Slender iron columns of quatrefoil section on circular bases with pronounced entasis support large-scantling cross-beams. The Calder and Hebble Navigation was constructed 1759-64.
