Full description:
Public house mid C18 with sundial dated 1764. Hammer dressed stone, ashlar quoins, slate roof. 2 storeys. Double-pile under 2 parallel roofs. South front has 3 bays of 2-light sashed windows with plain stone surrounds and projecting sills. Set between 1st 2 bays is modern entrance with gabled porch c1880. Original entrance is set between bays 2 and 3. Monolithic jambs with overlapping lintel (blocked) over which is stone sundial with arched head finely engraved and inscribed: "G, J F, Ab hoc Momento pendet AE ternitas, Latitude - 53, 45. 1764 ". Stone gutter brackets. Right hand return wall has gable stack. Rear range of double-pile has wide Venetian window with raised impost, sill and dropped keystone to each floor. Quoins. 2 other stacks to front range.
