Full description:
Large house dating from late C18 with mid C19 additions now forms flats. Hammer dressed stone, slate roof. 2 storeys. U-shaped with central hall range with 4 bays of tall windows with plain stone surrounds, formerly sashed, and doorway with architrave. Wings break forward. 4 bays of similar windows to left. Wide basket arched carriage entrance to right with keystone and impost. 2 doorways and other similar windows. Wings have 4 bay front of similar windows to right, which retain 15-paned sashes, but C19 to left wing which has windows with lugged architrave, consoles and cornice, with sill band over to 1st floor with less elaborate windows. Left hand return wall of 7 symmetrical bays. A A B A B A A. Outer bays and doorway have similar surround to front. Bays either side of door have plain stone surrounds with some to 1st floor with sill band. Eaves cornice, 2 or 3 stacks to each range. Courtyard is enclosed by ashlar walls with open parapet with open roundels and wide chamfered gate piers with tapering caps.
