Full description:
Lodge forming gate house for Cragg Hall (now demolished). Dated 1906. Arts and Crafts. Hammer dressed stone with ashlar dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. L-shaped. Steeply angled buttresses with coped gables with kneelers and carved decorative tall keystone to upper window, which rises to form finial to apex of front gable under which is 4-light flat faced mullioned window over basket arched gateway with joggled voussoirs retaining original full-height oak gates with date and pierced Gothic carved roundels. Canted bay window has cross-windows with 2-light windows over to 1st floor. Inner, doorway through gateway, has chamfered jambs and lintel with tall expressed false keystone and retaining original ironwork. Rear has similar details with semi-octagonal stair tower, and outshut with 4-light window at junction of single storey range with altered windows. One gable stack, one to ridge of gatehouse and one other. Interior not inspected.
