Full description:
Late C17 house attached to larger mid C18 house to which is attached late C18 added bay. Hammer-dressed stone, ashlar dressings, modern tile roof. 2 storeys. Original house at left hand and fronts road. Coped gable with kneeler and stack. Quoins. Double chamfered mullioned windows of 2 lights and 4 lights to ground floor with 2 rectangular later window openings to 1st floor. Quoins. Added bay has double chamfered mullioned window of 3 lights with similar window over. Wall runs straight into C18 build which rises higher and has raised rusticated quoins and ashlar faced gable with moulded copings, kneelers and stack. Venetian window to apex. Facade to road has symmetrical arrangement of tall stair window of 6 lights with transoms with to either side large windows with plain stone surrounds which project, originally of 4 lights (now altered to 2 lights) to each floor. Moulded eaves cornice. South west gable has Venetian window with raised impost and keystone. Stack to gable. Rusticated quoins. East front is faced in ashlar. Classical facade. Symmetrical. 5 bays. Central 3 bays break forward under triangular pediment. Central doorway has architrave, segmental pediment, consoles. All other bays have windows with plain stone surrounds and projecting sill, (altered glazing). Rear of C17 house retains double chamfered mullioned windows of 3 lights and 4 lights and 2 doorways with basket arched lintels. Interior of this range has division wall formed by large single stones which are shaped to take beams. Main house retains 2 original fireplaces, one with fine quality carved wooden surround.
