Full description:
Terrace of 12 houses. 1840's for Colonel Edward Akroyd probably by W H Crossland. Hammer dressed stone with ashlar dressings. Slate roof. Chamfered plinth. Tudor arched doors with ornamental strap hinges in stop chamfered surrounds. 3 light mullion and transom window to alternate sides with 3-light mullion window above, some retain original glazing bars. Inner 10 houses paired with 5 gabled dormers each of which has copings, kneelers and two single lights with transom to the upper floor and later inserted paired windows below. Projecting course at eaves provides continuous support to cast iron gutter. Gable ends quoined with coped verges and kneelers. 6 square stacks to ridge have plinth, tabling and vertical groove to each face. Garden walls in narrow coursed sandstone with triangular copings. Important early example of planned industrial housing.
