Full description:
Cotton Mill. 1833 with minor C20 alterations and additions. Built for John Haigh and Brothers. Thin coursed hammer dressed sandstone with ashlar dressings and Welsh slate roofs. Ashlar coped gables and bracketed eaves. South front, 5 storeys plus attics, 14 bays with the central 4 bays topped by a pediment containing a Venetian window. The second bay from the left now obscured by a projecting toilet block. Set back to the right a single bay engine house, with a tall rusticated round headed window, with a single window above. The 4-storey north front, also 14 bays, has similar pediment topping central 4 bays not altered, many of the windows are loft doors with hoists, plus various additions. Interior construction has timber beams and floors supported on cast iron columns. Collar beam roof raised on cast iron brackets.
