Full description:
House, initialled and dated "17 IMG 55", with added barn c1850 altered mid C20 to form extra accommodation; has inserted C17 windows and 2-storey porch, brought from various locations including the demolished Schofield Hall, Hollingworth Lake, Rochdale. Hammer-dressed stone, blue slate roof. House, though mid C18, entirely C17 in style. 2-room front with housebody and parlour which has small rear room. Gable entry. South-east front has double chamfered mullioned windows with king mullions of 8 lights and 6 lights to ground floor and 8 lights and 5 lights to 1st floor. Left hand return wall has gable entry doorway over which is date plaque; 2 single lights to 1st floor. Coped gables with kneelers. Rear has 3-light chamfered mullioned window with arched lights with sunken spandrels (probably reused from earlier house on this site). Barn at right angles has inserted C17 doorway with ogee lintel and chamfered surround to left of 10-light double chamfered mullioned and transomed window with ovolo moulded mullions. 1st floor has arch-headed light and 4-light double chamfered mullioned window. Lateral mid C20 stack to left of former segmental arched cart entry (blocked) with simple Venetian window over. West side of barn has similar archway and window to left of fine 2-storey porch which has quoins, coped gable and kneelers, ogee lintel to doorway with finely stop chamfered surround over which is 3-light double chamfered mullioned window. To right of porch are 4-light double chamfered mullioned windows to each floor. North gable has 3 garage doorways with 2
double chamfered mullioned windows of 5 lights over to 1st floor. Coped gable with kneelers and baluster finials. House lacks stacks though retains fireplace with chamfered surround and altered lintel.
