Full description:
House, initialled and dated "C S R 1788" (for Christopher and Sophie Rawden who owned Callis Mill at this date), now in 2 occupations. Ashlar front, hammer dressed stone to sides and rear, stone slate roof. 2 storeys and attic. Raised rusticated quoins, plinth, 2 sill bands. Paired doorways to centre have monolithic jambs. 2 bays have sashed windows to either side of plain stone surrounds. Left hand return wall has semi-circular-arched window to 1st floor with impost block and keystone to light stair. Over is simple Venetian window to attic. Coped gables with stacks. Rear has altered windows but retains 3 light flat faced mullioned stepped windows to 1st floor. Interior: Stone dog-leg cantilevered staircase with half landing and balcony with wrought-iron balustrade formed by paired wavy balusters alternating with ones with 2 and 3 heart-shaped motifs. One riser has cast iron plate bearing initials and date in relief. Of similar character to Lacy House (q.v.).
