Full description:
House, early C17 with mid C18 alteration and addition and added barn dated 1851 (this barn is excluded from the item). Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. Originally 3-room plan with baffle entry. The service end was rebuilt mid C18. Now of 5 divisions. 1st is addition, quoins, 2-light flat faced mullioned window to left of doorway with tie-stone jamb. 2nd and 3rd divisions (former parlour and housebody) each have 4-light double chamfered mullioned window to ground floor and chamfered mullioned windows to 1st floor of 4 lights and 6 lights (lacks 3 mullions). To right of window to 3rd bay is original doorway with flat faced lintel and renewed monolithic jambs with chamfered surround. 4th division has C18 doorway with tie-stone jambs with chamfered surround to left of 2 bays of Venetian windows with projecting sills imposts and expressed keystone. 1st floor has former 6-light flat faced mullioned window and 2-light window (lacking some mullions). Quoins, coped gable with kneelers and stack, one other stack to ridge, and one to rear single storey outshut which has 5-light flat faced mullioned window. Interior: former housebody has fine ceiling with reeded spine beams with elaborate stop chamfer and reeded floor joists. Corbelled fireplace with stone shelf mid C18 retains decorative cast iron range. Parlour has similar ceiling. C. F. Stell, p.223.
