Full description:
House. Early C17. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. 3-room hall and cross-wing plan. The service end of the building is ruinuous and only the ground floor wall survives. All are double chamfered mullioned windows with hollow chamfered mullions. Cross-wing breaks forward, to south only, under cat-slide roof with main range. 6-light window with hoodmould with straight return. Over is 4-light window with inserted 2-light flat faced mullioned window to left. In right hand return wall is inserted C19 doorway with monolithic jambs. Hall-range, set back, has former 5-light window to housebody broken in to form doorway. 3-light fire-window (lacks a mullion). Through-passage doorway has composite jambs, wide lintel and moulded surround. Overall is continuous stepped hoodmould. 1st floor has small window with chamfered surround and 2-light flat faced mullioned window. Service end has 3-light chamfered mullioned windows to either side of doorway with chamfered surround. Right hand return wall has 3-light window. Rear of wing has 3-light chamfered mullioned window with 2-light window over. Left hand return wall mostly rebuilt in watershot masonry. Coped gable with C19 stack, probably contemporary with the roof which has been raised. C. F. Stell, p.71.
