The 18 or 19 year old John Fielden (junior) is in Heerbrugg, Switzerland and writes to his brother Sam. The letter mainly covers travel advice for Sam, who plans to join John within a few weeks. It also shows evidence of the brothers¿ sense of humour and makes references to their home town of Todmorden.
John (junior) was the son of the John Fielden who was a Radical MP for Oldham and, with Lord Ashley, behind the `Ten Hours' Factory Act of 1847.
