This advertisement is one of the many that were placed in the handbook for the 1936 Halifax Shopping Festival and Exhibition. The festival was organised by the Halifax Chamber of Trade and was intended as a platform for businesses to promote their products and services to the people of Halifax. The handbook was published to give people an idea of the events that would be taking place as part of the festival, as well as to carry advertising for participating businesses.
Although many of the firms who exhibited were local to Calderdale, some were not. The festival also attracted companies from outside the area whose products would have been stocked by local retailers. Richold's Models were one such company and their advertisement can be seen on the right hand side of this page.
