In order to promote various businesses, goods and services to the people of Halifax, the Halifax Chamber of Trade organised the Shopping Festival and Exhibition. This event largely involved businesses setting up stands to exhibit their products and services to potential customers. In addition to this, many of those who exhibited at the festival also placed advertisements in the festival handbook. The handbook was designed to provide information about the events and activities that would be taking place as part of the festival, as well as to carry advertising. The handbook also contained articles, short stories and photographs of Halifax and the surrounding areas.
