Crown Street, Halifax circa. 1900. This was taken at the top end of Crown Street on the junction with Waterhouse Street known as Hall End.Until 1764 this road was known as High Street, as it was the chief shopping street.
'The Crown' was on the north side just below Hall End, which was where the early Cloth Hall and Linen Hall stood. The 'Upper George ' is just to the left of the picture.
