Originally opened in the 1898 as the Albert Hall, and used as a theatre until 1929 when it was converted to a cinema.
In 1963 the premise was used as both a cinema and as a bingo hall. In 1965 the bingo nights were dropped in favour of cinema.
The cinema closed in 1972 and has since been used as a bingo and social club, known under many names including "Walker Bingo Hall" and "New Kingsway Bingo & Social Club".
