Northowram Hospital was built on the site of Northowram Hall which was built by Christopher Rawson in 1764, and later re-built by A. B. Foster nearby in 1882. Purchased by J. W. Drake in 1924 the building was destroyed by fire the following year.

In 1931 proposals were put forward to build a hospital to replace the Borough Fever Hospital at Stoney Royd. This was opened in 1934. The hospital building in the photographs was officially opened on the 12th of March 1971. The hospital closed in 2001, when it merged with the Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Houses have since been built on the site. [2003]
