An example of an "aisled house" or "aisled hall".




It was home to Cornelius Ashworth, one of the last to make a living from the dual economy of smallholding and weaving. He was also overseer of the parish and a diarist recording the changes from a rural to an industrial economy in the 1780s. (See F.
