Twelve pages of Halifax handbills from the late 18th century, all printed by E. Jacob of Halifax, publisher of the part-work 'Jacob's History of Halifax' in 1789.




The collection contains images (including an engraving of Barkisland Grammar School - p4; Jacob's printers - p2; Fawcett's Boarding School, Midgley - p2), verse (p5), concert programme (p6), fliers for a freak show (p7) and a fireworks display (p8), advertisements for a tea merchant (p10), a druggist (p11), a drawing master (p1) and a language teacher (p4), a boarding school for young ladies (p6), reports of assault (p9) and robbery (p11), and a wrapper for funeral biscuits (p12).
