Daniel Defoe's book records his journey through Great Britain and describes the working and living conditions of the labouring classes he found on his travels, as well as giving topographical details of the towns he visited. These pages describe his views of Halifax and the Calder valley and include his comments on Coals and Running Water, and Cloth Stealers in Halifax. Also included is a map of the West Riding of Yorkshire from the 1700s (page 10).
