Defrauding of the tolls, 1830

Author: Unknown
Date: 1830
Location: Todmorden
Format: Historical Account
Document ID: 102749
Library ID:

In this document, we read about an alleged defrauding of the tolls by a man called John Radcliffe.

James Pearson was summoned to give evidence before Bacup magistrates about 1830 regarding this case.

The document was donated along with others which relate to the Anti Poor Law riots in Todmorden in 1838 and also letters between members of the Fielden family. This, however, seems to be an unrelated item.

A transcript of the document follows the original image.
