This advertisement is taken from the handbook for the Halifax Shopping Festival and Exhibition. The purpose of the handbook was to carry advertisements for businesses who would be exhibiting, as well as to offer a flavour of the events that would be taking place as part of the festival.
The Halifax Shopping Festival took place over the course of one week. Organised by the Halifax Chamber of Trade, its primary aim was to actively promote local traders, goods and services. Exhibitors and advertisers included all kinds of businesses, from woollen manufacturers to car dealerships.
To the right of the page is an advertisement for Forrest's. Forrest's were drapers who were based at 13-15 Arcade and 10 Russel Street, Halifax.
