Swift Place was erected by the Swift family in the early 17th Century. Some initials and a date are carved above the main entrance. It was subsequently owned by the Hoyle Family for the latter part of the 17th century, and Hoyle initials are carved in various places around the property: ESH 1698, ESH 1704 and on the barn ESH1714. The courtyard and gates are notable features.
Articles on Swift Place appear in the Halifax Antiquarian Transactions dated 1903 by H P Kendall, September article, and also in Views of Ancient Buildings in the Parish of Halifax, 1879
