Opened on the 9th of April 1901 as Halifax Union St Luke's Hospital, it was designed to take in patients from the town's other overcrowded hospitals.
The Calderdale Royal Hospital opened in April 2001. Some of the original buildings were renovated and kept alongside the newly built hospital.
The building was partly demolished in 2001 to make way for a new hospital. This merged the old Infirmary and the General into the Royal Halifax Infirmary.
