The Old Stirk Bridge was a 17th century pack-horse bridge over the Ryburn at Sowerby Bridge on the way to Norland. This stone bridge was demolished in 1859 and replaced by a cast iron bridge.

A ducking stool was here 1685-90. In 1722, 8 members of the same family drowned here when the Ryburn flooded.

The glass slide is from the John Bates Slide Collection held at Sowerby Bridge Public Library.
