Date: 1829
Location: West Riding
Format: Biography

The frontispiece shows an engraving (by R. Woodman of London) of Joseph Cockin, "Late Minister of the Gospel, at Halifax". His memoirs include "Accounts of some of his friends; written, partly by himself, and continued by his son, John Cockin. To which is added an Appendix."

Cockin's account is a personal reminiscence of his own history and that of the growth of the Nonconformist and Independent Christian movements in the West Yorkshire area in the 18th century. He recounts religious gatherings in Honley, Huddersfield, Almondbury, Bradford, Idle and finally Halifax. Included in the book is the story of the origin of the Zion (Sion) Chapel at Halifax.
