The frontispiece shows a photograph of Halifax Parish Church (now Halifax Minster) from the early 20th century. The author was a member of the Yorkshire Archaeological Society. This book was part of a series of histories of towns (incl. Pontefract and Sheffield) by the same author and was published by the Sheldon Press in London, 1923.
