Plan of the Town of Halifax drawn by John Smeaton when he was asked to prepare a scheme for supplying the town with water. His report was dated 14th February 1761, and was addressed to Mr. Simpson (afterwards Secretary to the Halifax Manufacturers' Hall [Piece Hall] Building Committee). Originally published in "Celebrated Engineers of the Eighteenth Century, London, 1812".
