"Union Journal, or Halifax Advertiser", numbers 9 to 12, for the month of April 1759. Each issue is four pages, and contains a mixture of national and international news on the first few pages, followed by local advertisements for House Lets, Auctions, Book & Print Sellers and herbal and patent medicines.

Little local news appears; news items refer to events and conflicts in Europe in what is now known as the Seven Years War (Prussia and England versus Austria, France, Russia, Spain and Sweden). This spilt over to other continents in the Americas and India, and many of the news items cover naval activities and conflicts with the French and Dutch. Issue 9 includes a letter from the prisoners of Halifax Gaol thanking the Gentlemen and Ladies of Halifax for their "extensive Charity and Benefaction bestowed upon us".
