The Ladstone Rock stands on top of Norland Moor. A lot has been speculated about the rock. It has been said that the rock may be used as a sacrificial point, or that witches were thrown from the rock in the middle ages. This speculation may derive from the name lladd, which is the Celtic word for kill, or cut, so a Ladstone is a kill stone.

Halifax Children's Home was built in 1937 by the Round Table, a group of charitable business men. The home was opened to provide holidays for needy children in the surrounding areas. Due to lack of funds, and a change in economic standards the home closed in 1980.
