Highbury School brings critically acclaimed pianist, Derek Paravicini to Orange Box young people’s centre for an evening of music, requests and chat.
Derek will be performing alongside some very special friends with all proceeds from the concert donated to Highbury School and The Amber Trust.
Derek Paravicini started to teach himself the piano when he was just two years old.
Derek shot to fame when he was nine playing jazz with the Royal Philharmonic Pops Orchestra. Yet he is blind, autistic and has severe learning difficulties. Dubbed ‘The Human iPod’ in America, Derek has a repertoire of tens of thousands of pieces – all learnt very rapidly, just by listening.
His latest album, Elation, is out now.
Derek’s mentor Adam Ockelford, who is Professor of Music at the University of Roehampton and taught Derek for many years, will be accompanying him for a question and answer session after the concert.
