District Heat is a proven technology that is currently undergoing a renaissance in the UK, thanks to national policy support.
Initial work on a system for Halifax has returned encouraging signs that this low carbon system could be deployed alongside other projects to support our historic buildings and help our local economy.
We are commissioning more work to explore this. Take a look at our new information booklet for a Halifax District Heat Network [PDF 3237KB]
What does this mean for me?
We are asking property owners in Halifax to give us information about their site. This is to see if we could use District Heating to help them reduce operational costs and go low carbon.
If you own a site in central Halifax, please get in touch with us, email: Sam.Saxby@calderdale.gov.uk.
When might a District Heat system be installed?
We have a lot of work to do to make sure the business case is secure. Also, that a system will work well from a technical perspective. We will aim to align network creation with other Halifax Town Centre projects. This means that we could start to build a network around 2020/21.
