Pest control

This is a service provided for pests that are considered to be a risk to public health or food safety including rats, house mice, bed bugs, cockroaches, fleas and wasps. A service may also be provided to control pests that may become a nuisance in houses such as insect pests (beetles, flies, etc), mammals or birds.

Advice can be given on a wide range of pest control matters and we also provide an insect identification service.

All Council Pest Control staff are qualified to Royal Society for the Promotion of Health standards.

Note: Pesticides can only be applied when the presence of pests has been proven.

Domestic premises

Where multiple visits are required:

  • at the first visit, the Pest Control Officer will assess / survey the premises and determine location of poison bait boxes.
  • at the second visit, the Pest Control Officer will check that the poison bait is being taken.
