Parents / guardians who are not happy with the school place offered to them, can make a request for their child's name to be added to the reallocation list. This is for school places that may become available after 1st March 2018 for secondary schools and 18th April 2017 for primary schools:
- if reallocation is requested at a higher preference school than has been allocated, the place offered can be retained;
- if the reallocation is requested at a lower preference school than has been offered, or a school which was not originally indicated on the application form, the higher preference school must be given up (please note that giving up a place does not guarantee reallocation to another school and the original place offered will be reallocated to another child);
- if a school has been offered which was not originally preferenced, parents / guardians can request reallocation to all preferred schools or a school which was not originally indicated on the application form.
Requests should be made using the Reallocation form:
The deadline for the initial round of reallocation requests is 15th March 2018 for secondary schools and 1st May 2017 for primary schools.
Parents will be notified of the outcome in writing by 31st March 2018 for secondary schools and 15th May 2017 for primary schools.
Reallocation requests received after 15th March 2018 for secondary schools and 1st May 2017 for primary schools, will be dealt with in order of date received.
Note: Information regarding the outcome of reallocations will not be given over the telephone.
Reallocation lists will be kept by the Local Authority for one week into the academic year beginning in September. This is for both primary and secondary schools. Waiting lists will then be maintained by the appropriate admission authority until at least the end of the Autumn term of the academic year.
