The number of intended admissions for the year commencing September 2018 is 26. Places will be allocated at West Vale Primary School in the following order of priority:
- 'Children who are Looked After' ie children who are in the care of the local authority or provided with accommodation by that authority (in accordance with Section 22 of the Children Act 1989) or children who were previously looked after but ceased to be so because they became adopted or became subject to a residence or special guardianship order.
- Where a child has a brother or sister (to include step and half brothers / sisters) attending the school, and permanently resident at the same address, at the proposed date of admission.
- Other children.
If there is oversubscription within any category, then pupils will be admitted in the order of proximity of the pupil's home to the school.
Distance will be calculated using a straight line measurement from the pupil's home to the closest designated school gate.
Distances will be calculated using the Local Authority's GIS (Geographical Information System). To ensure consistency, all measurements will be carried out by the Local Authority's GIS and no other method of measuring distance will be considered. Each property has a coordinate taken from Ordnance Survey ADDRESS-POINT data. This is the point which the distance measurement will be taken from.
