Become a Quality Assured Childminder with QiC

As a member of the Calderdale Childminder Quality Assurance Scheme ‘QiC’, you will be supported to maintain high quality provision, reflecting on and reviewing your practice regularly. You will receive termly support and monitoring visits, tailored to your needs, to enable you to keep you up to date with all requirements and good practice.

QiC has developed an extensive resource bank of documents and tools to aid your delivery of high quality early education care; such as planning and observation templates, development tracking, policy templates, risk assessment tools and a huge variety of reflective practice guides to suit your needs. What is on offer?

  • Termly visits from your Quality Improvement Support Officer (3 visits per year) that can focus on any of the following:
    • Learning and development.
    • Safeguarding and welfare requirements.
    • Supporting children with SEND.
    • Supporting children’s behaviour.
    • Safeguarding / Child Protection and Early Intervention.
    • Another subject / area for development of your choice.
    • One visit will include an annual review, linked to Ofsted outcomes, which will have agreed focus and will support your on-going development.
  • A bespoke continuous professional development plan.
  • Termly bespoke Childminder specific, continuous professional development events to support enhancing practice and provision for example:
    • Learning and development.
    • Safeguarding and welfare requirements.
    • Recent Ofsted actions and recommendations.
  • Access to interactive live webinars and/or recorded webinars on a variety of topics.
  • Telephone helpline for support, advice and guidance including out of office hours. For two days a week (8am – 8pm)
  • Dedicated email or text support.
  • Marketing materials, promoting your status as a QiC childminder, including:
    • Leaflets for parents/carers.
    • Annual Quality Assured Childminder Certificate to showcase to your parents/carers.
    • Certificate for attendance at all ‘QiC’ CPD events.
    • Window stickers.
  • Access to a members’ only website including quality downloadable resources.
  • Priority notification and bookings for some CPD events.
  • Bespoke training packages co-ordinated to enable cost effective bookings and training at a time / venue to meet the needs of the group.
  • Inclusion in marketing campaigns to showcase to parents and professionals the benefits of QiC childminders.
  • Members only social event (financial contribution may be required).
  • Termly briefings, for example:
    • Annual safeguarding updates.
    • Updates on changes to legislation and regulatory requirements.
    • National and local initiatives.
    • Ofsted updates including opportunity for Ofsted Q&A.
  • Ofsted inspection support before, during and after inspection, including QISO attendance and note-taking at Ofsted feedback.

Assessment Package

What you get:

  • initial introduction visit;
  • assessment paperwork and support tools;
  • observation and support visits;
  • support to help you complete an initial assessment (this will focus on how your practice reflects Ofsted outcomes) and support your self-reflection of practice and provision;
  • assessment outcome report on strengths and areas for development (this can also be used to support your Ofsted inspection);
  • certificate of Achievement.
