There are several ways to help parents and carers reduce the overall cost of childcare:
- Funded childcare places for eligible two year olds:
Funded childcare places are available for some two year olds. Check if you are eligible, or ask your local Children's centre or childcare provider for more information.
- Funded early years entitlement for three and four year olds:
All families are entitled to up to 15 hours of early education for 38 weeks of the year, from the term after your child turns three years old.
The government is introducing new ways to help parents with childcare costs. Whether you have toddlers or teens, you could get support. to check your options, visit: Childcare choices: can I get help with my childcare costs?
Flexible working involves making a change to your current working arrangements, such as a change in the overall number of hours you work, the days that you work, or where you work from. You must have 26 weeks continuous service to make a legal request for flexible working once a year.
Employers have a duty to consider all requests in a reasonable manner, but can refuse requests on business grounds. For more information, visit: Flexible working .
