Sowerby Bridge is a lively market town which lies within the Calder Valley and hosts an open market constructed in 2007 at a new location in the centre of town. It’s probably the only solar powered market in the UK!
The market offers an array of fresh foods, many sold from the purpose-built secure units. Four times each year the market is doubled in size and takes on the theme of Totally Locally Totally Locally: Facebook Sowerby Bridge local businesses sell their wares from the market with a celebration of entertainment and local products.
Each September the market also plays host to the Sowerby Bridge Rushbearing Festival .
