Charity stalls

The Council maintains a charity stall at each market site, which is available on a specific day each week.

The stall is available free of charge to registered local charities and local branches of national charities, amateur sporting and local organisations.

Bookings for this facility (on a first come - first served basis) can be made by contacting the relevant market office, in person, by phone, by email or by letter.

Once a date has been agreed for you to stand, you must confirm the booking in writing on the charity's headed paper.

Note: some commodities and the holding of a raffle cannot be allowed without the appropriate licence. For more information see: Licences .

Mayor's charity stall

The Markets Service also maintains the Mayor's charity stall on Southgate Precinct, Halifax on a Friday and Saturday each week.

The stall is available at a charge of £20 to registered local charities and local branches of national charities. Bookings for this facility (on a first come - first served basis) can be made by contacting the market office, in person, by phone, by email or by letter.

Free stalls for schools

Let your students have a real taste of life in a busy competitive market environment by running their "own" stall at one of Calderdale's open markets in Elland, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge or Todmorden.

Use of the stall is free for educational purposes including:

  • promotion of adult learning
  • literacy classes
  • parent teacher fundraising events.
