Scaffolding licence

Scaffolding licences are needed to erect scaffolding on public footways. After a licence is issued and the scaffolding in place a Streetworks inspector will visit. This is to make sure there are no obstructions or affects on the health and safety of the public.

If you are a scaffolding company please complete the PDFScaffolding License - application form [PDF 23KB] and return to:

Note: The fees are listed on the form.

Time to process

Licences can be sent out within five working days of receiving the application and fee.

Will tacit authorisation apply?

No: Provided that all relevant criteria are met on the application form and the fee has been paid. Authorisation to erect a scaffold in a public footway is granted only when the licence has been produced and not before.
