Access improvements at Ogden Water

We are currently working on a funding application to make some improvements to Ogden Water Local Nature Reserve and need to gather information from people who currently visit the site (or who may visit in the future) to help us assess whether or not the proposed works would improve the facilities on site enough to encourage visitors to visit more often, particularly between October and March each year.
The work we are currently trying to secure funding for includes:
1. Resurfacing of the main path around the reservoir using a new surface which is free draining (no more puddles or ice!) and has some give in it which makes it more comfortable to walk or run on and is more accessible for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues.
2. Installation of accessible play equipment near the picnic area.
3. Resurfacing and marking out of car parks to maximise space for parking, provide level parking for visitors with disabilities with space around the vehicle to make getting out of the vehicle safer and prevent puddles when it rains.
If you have never visited the site before, we would particularly like to hear from you. To find out more about Ogden Water, please visit : www.visitcalderdale.com/attra-ogden-water-country-park
Your thoughts and comments are important to us and we hope that you will take part in the survey.

Thinking about the funding application we are working on, please can you answer the questions below?
Q8a If we improved the footpath around the reservoir making it easier for everyone (particularly wheelchair users, people with mobility problems and prams), resurfaced the car parks and installed an accessible play area, would you visit Ogden more often than you do now?

Q8b If you answered ‘yes’ to the question above, which months would you visit during the year (weather permitting)?

Q9 One improvement that we have considered over the years has been to create safer access from the car park to the shop/toilets which took people off the road.  This would involve removing some of the rhododendron area which would be a good thing to do from an ecological point of view but may not be popular with some of our visitors. Would you be supportive of this idea?

We would like to know your opinions regarding the toilets at Ogden Water.
Q10a Please tell us what you think of  the current toilet provision from 1 to 10 where 1 = Dreadful and 10 = Perfect

Dependant on funding, one of our aspirations for Ogden Water is to be able to install a Changing Places toilets. A quote from the Changing Places website states the following:
Standard accessible toilets do not meet the needs of all people with a disability. People with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well people with other physical disabilities such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis often need extra equipment and space to allow them to use the toilets safely and comfortably. These needs are met by Changing Places toilets. Each Changing Places toilet provides:
The right equipment
- a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench
- a tracking hoist system, or mobile hoist if this is not possible.
Enough space
- adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers
- a centrally placed toilet with room either side
- a screen or curtain to allow some privacy.
A safe and clean environment
- wide tear off paper roll to cover the bench
- a large waste bin for disposable pads
- a non-slip floor.
PLEASE NOTE: Changing Places toilets are different to standard accessible toilets (or "disabled toilets") and should be provided in addition to accessible toilets.'
Q10b Would you support this development if we could secure funding?

Q10c If a Changing Places was available at Ogden Water, would be more likely to visit more often or for the first time?
