This is a charity that provides information, advice and support to people with multiple sclerosis and their families. It offers a national helpline and email enquiry service. It runs a network of local support groups, as well as support groups for the Asian community, members of the armed forces, and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people.

The society offers a range of free publications, available on its website and in print. The MS National Centre also houses a library of books, dvds and cds, which you can arrange to borrow by telephone or email.

The society organises events, courses and activities. Its courses support people living with multiple sclerosis to look after themselves and manage their condition.

The grants team can advise on applying for grants from the society and other financial help. The society has plans to make grants available to fund short breaks, holidays and respite care for people with multiple sclerosis and their carers. The Short Breaks and Activities Fund will become available across England in spring 2011. The society also offers grants from its Young Carers Fund and its Carers Opportunities Fund.

The society offers specialist insurance products and financial services for people living with multiple sclerosis. These include travel insurance, household insurance, life assurance, motor insurance and annuities.
