This is a charity that provides advice, support and services to families of deaf children and young people. It runs a national freephone helpline and email enquiry service. You can get emotional and practical support from the helpline in over 100 different languages.

Helpline staff can refer you to specialist teams of family officers, benefits appeals advisers and education appeals advisers. The Family Officer for Yorkshire and the Humber is Theresa Grennan. There is also a network of local groups. You can contact Calderdale Deaf Family Support Group by emailing

There is a range of information and advice on the website, including about benefits, communication, education, audiology, parenting and technology. There are also resources to support particular age groups. Some areas of the website are restricted to members, including the society's publications section. Membership is free of charge.

The society runs free weekends for families of children who have recently been identified with a hearing loss. It also organises events for families of children with additional complex needs.
