Advice and support services are provided by Calderdale Council for people with sensory impairments, including deafness and hearing impairment, blindness and visual impairment, and combined sight and hearing loss.

You can get advice, training and equipment to support you to live independently. This can include help with communication, daily living tasks, mobility and travel.

You can contact Gateway to Care to arrange to have your needs assessed and to ask for support. You can also visit the Glenholme Resource Centre to view and try out a range of specialist equipment, and get expert advice. Drop in days are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

You can ask to be included on the register of blind and partially sighted people, or the register of deaf and hard of hearing people. However you do not need to be registered to receive services.
