Full description:
Wheelhousing for reservoir, 1886, Thomas Hawksley engineer (Wakefield). One of 2, the other wheelhouse is on Saddleworth Road (q.v.). Rock faced stone and ashlar. Cylindrical structure with arched doorway with expressed keystone. Heavy ashlar cornice and hemispherical dome topped by solid parapet with iron crown. A good example of the masonry traditions of the area.
